Phoenix College is a learning-centered college committed to providing an environment conducive to teaching, learning, and student success.
If you encounter a student you are concerned about, is generally disruptive to the learning environment (in or outside of the classroom), or who may have violated academic or student code of conduct, we recommend you use the appropriate form below to share your concerns and/or report the behavior or incident.
When making a referral or submitting a report, please first discuss your concerns with the student. Also, be sure to communicate with your Department Chair on all matters related to the classroom learning environment. For staff members making a referral, be sure to communicate with your immediate supervisor.
If a student is exhibiting disruptive behavior in or outside the classroom, even after you have discussed the behavior with them, or is in alleged violation of academic or student conduct code, you are encouraged to report the behavior or incident.
The policy of the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is to provide an educational, employment, and business environment free of sexual violence, unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct or communications constituting Sexual Harassment as prohibited by state and federal law. Discrimination under this Policy is an unequal treatment of a student based on the student’s actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, or pregnancy. This Policy prohibits Sexual Harassment and Discrimination in any college education program or activity, which means all academic, educational, extracurricular, athletic and other programs. This Policy is subject to Constitutionally protected speech rights and principles of academic freedom.
Sexual Harassment Policy
Violations of the Maricopa County Community College Sexual Harassment Policy may be shared with anyone at the college or with the campus Title IX Coordinator, the Vice President of Student Affairs.
That process is detailed here: https://asa.maricopa.edu/compliance/title-ix
Public Safety Threat
If you feel a student is either an immediate threat to him or herself or to others, call Public Safety at 480-784-0911 (Off-Campus) or 4-0911 (On-Campus) or use an emergency call box located around campus grounds and an officer will be dispatched to assist.
CARE (Early Alert)
The CARE (Early Alert) system is designed to offer our students academic and personal support in an effort to improve their academic performance and opportunity for success at Phoenix College. If you observe a pattern of student behavior that may indicate a student is encountering challenges that affect their academic performance, we encourage you to speak with the student and make a CARE (Early Alert) referral, preferably in the first few weeks of the semester. Referrals are welcome and accepted at any time, however, the more timely the referral the greater the opportunity to help the student.
If you have a question regarding student behavior, intervention strategies, and/or college policy we recommend you contact the appropriate resource below:
